Andy Shaw, Owner of Fairfield Avenue School of Fencing, as well as the official historian for the US Fencing Association. Looking more
like a football lineman than a fencer, Coach Bobby Thornton has been fencing
for 19 years, nearly all of them competitively. He started fencing at Caddo
Magnet High School in Shreveport, LA as a freshman in 1990, when he, like many
others, thought he was too small to play any other sports at the high school
level. He saw fencing as he toured the school and was hooked.
Daniel Ewing attends Centenary College of Louisiana. He is the
co-captain of the newly formed Centenary Fencing Club and has been
fencing for close to five years now. He has been taught by Andy all
five years and has spent time training under Olympian and Hall of Fame
fencer Michael Marx in Oregon.
